Start Date: Mid-April 2026
Duration: Approximately 5 months, weather dependent
Healesville Cemetery will soon have a new range of final resting places for loved ones, including natural burial, ashes memorials, and lawn graves.
What’s happening?
Work has started to establish a new natural burial area and extend the Eucalypt section.
The new natural burial area has been designed around existing trees, away from structural root zones, responding organically to the site’s natural features. This approach preserves mature trees while creating spaces of reflection via meandering pathways. Rock memorials will also be available for ashes.
Additional lawn graves and rock boulders with up to four cremated remains interment positions, will be established in the Eucalypt extension. Existing trees will be maintained, with final resting places nestled amongst newly created garden beds and leafy surrounds.
What to expect during works:
Restricted access to construction areas until the project is completed.
Construction work stoppages to minimise noise if there are nearby funeral services.
Traffic management details will be confirmed closer to commencement.
