Gender Equality Action Plan

This Gender Equality Action Plan (2021–2025) formalises our commitment to further embed diversity and inclusion principles in our people, processes and experiences we offer to our people.

To promote and support gender equality in the workplace, GMCT will prepare a Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) every four years. This is a requirement of the Gender Equality Act 2020.

This Gender Equality Action Plan (2021–2025) formalises our commitment to further embed diversity and inclusion principles in our people, processes and experiences we offer to our people.

GMCT is committed to continuing to expand on the diversity of our workforce and foster an inclusive workplace culture. This helps to ensure we are truly representative of the communities we represent across the Greater Melbourne area. In doing this, we can also ensure employees feel engaged, included and safe.

Our GEAP will provide a framework for GMCT to:

  • understand the importance of gender equality

  • identify where change is needed in our organisation

  • plan and implement actions that will achieve progress.

Our GEAP includes:

  • the results of a workplace gender audit, to assess the current state of gender equality in the workplace

  • strategies and measures to improve gender equality in the workplace, based on the results of the audit.

Through regular and thorough employee and community consultation, we aim to continue to develop our understanding of the various experiences of those we serve. This will help to enhance how we operate to ensure we contribute to a more inclusive, just and equitable society.
