Preston Cemetery is located approximately 10 kilometers north
of Melbourne. Preston Cemetery opened in December 1864
and was originally known as the Strathallan Cemetery. In 1931 a
fire destroyed a small timber church on the site, together with all
the cemetery's records. At that time there had been between
500 and 600 burials at the cemetery.
Services and facilities available at Preston Cemetery include
mausoleum crypts, cremated remains memorials, funeral
venues and function facilities.
Burial options
Currently only those who have pre-purchased graves have access
to burial options at Preston Cemetery.
Mausolea
Preston Mausoleum offers impressive architecture, 24 hour
access for relatives, state of the art security and diversity in
style.
In 1996 the first stage of our Mausoleum was completed, with
capacity of 768 crypt spaces. The second stage of our Mausoleum was
completed in 1999, adding 3048 crypt spaces and a Chapel for
funeral and other services. Currently the third and final stage is
nearing completion. this will add a further 4400 crypt spaces,
making it the largest Mausoleum building in the Southern
Hemisphere.
