Anderson's Creek Cemetery first opened in 1858 and is one of the
oldest cemeteries in Victoria. It was originally a monumental
cemetery but in recent years it has been expanded with a lawn and
bushland theme.
The cemetery has strong links with its pioneer past and much has
been done to preserve old graves and headstones. Many records were
lost in the 1939 Black Friday bushfires, but a monument at the
front gate records those buried in unmarked graves.
Burial options
Anderson's Creek Cemetery provides for both lawn graves and
cremated remains memorials. No new monumental graves are available.
A standard grave accommodates two interments. There is also a
special area of the Anderson's Creek Cemetery set aside for the
burial of young children, or the placement of their cremated
remains.
