What will cemeteries of the future be like?

Join us for GMCT’s 2016-17 annual meeting and a special presentation exploring cemeteries in the digital age.

Australia’s most prominent futurist, Dr Peter Ellyard, will deliver a keynote address on how social and technological change in twenty-first century society will pose both challenges and opportunities for the cemeteries sector in Australia and globally.

Cemeteries must respond to the community’s changing needs and expectations in the digital age. Emerging technologies such as online memorialisation, digital mapping and virtual reality all have the potential to transform what it means to farewell and remember loved ones in our future society.

All members of the community are welcome to attend and participate in this thought-provoking discussion.

The GMCT annual meeting will be held on Wednesday 29 November and is free to attend.

Highlights from 2016-17

The 2016-17 annual meeting will include a review of highlights from 2016-2017.

GMCT’s 2016-17 annual report, which was tabled in Parliament in October, outlines some of the significant achievements of our organisation over the past year.

This year was dedicated to reviewing and improving our services and products, as well as organisational processes and partnerships, in order to provide you - our families, customers and communities – with a better GMCT experience.

Achievements include the opening of the Atrium of Holy Angels Mausoleum at Fawkner Memorial Park, completion of the Keilor cemetery extension, and the development of conservation management plans for our sites to ensure the treasured heritage assets and historical features of our cemeteries will be preserved into the future.

Please join us for the GMCT annual meeting to learn more about what’s been happening at your local cemetery and how GMCT is working to serve Melbourne’s communities.
